SSG Jacob Alan Hess - Jake Danger

Jake was from Kansas City, MO. He joined the Army in 2004 and served with the 82nd Airborne Division as an engineer, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007-2008, and again in 2009-2010. Jake completed a qualification course and reclassified to Civil Affairs in 2013, serving with the 97th Civil Affairs Battalion, United States Army Special Operations Command, until his death on active duty in 2019 in a training accident. Jake's awards and decorations include four Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, two Iraqi Campaign Medals, a Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. He was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Jake was the comedic relief in any situation, enjoyed sports and cheering for his Kansas City teams, playing the ukulele, and spending time with his wife, Jessica, and 5 daughters. Jacob was an incredible husband, the ultimate girl dad, and an exceptional leader and soldier. He is deeply missed by his family and friends.
